The Difference

Basically, 2 manufacturing techniques are to be distinguished:
Cold manufacturing and pasteurisation with subsequent freeze-drying or spray-drying.

In cold manufacturing, as it is used in our company, all ingredients survive processing. This procedure is a purely physical process, where neither chemicals nor other additives - except for one enzyme to separate the casein - are employed.
We developed this procedure on the basis of the manufacturing techniques of biotechnology to protect the ingredients and to maintain their biological activity. Even the most sensitive ingredients like enzymes are preserved that way.

In pasteurising, as it is common in dairy processing, the ingredients are not preserved. Casein and often fat, too, are not separated. Consequently, a sterile filtration for degermination does not apply. Pasteurising is the preferred method here. The colostrum is heated to 72°C (161.6°F) for about 15 seconds. So - like milk - it is nonperishable in its liquid state for several days. Admittedly, precious ingredients get lost.
Due to the fact that the shelf life of liquid products is limited, spray-drying is often applied subsequently to pasteurisation. The following spray-drying strains the product yet another time with heat.

Even though manufacturers speak about a "gentle" spray-drying, normally, this can only be seen within the scope of limited possibilities. By no means has it born comparison with a quality test of our coldly manufactured colostrum.

Thus, we put the rule to the test in co-operation with universities and research laboratories. The following tables demonstrate the difference clearly.

8 different batches of colostrum were divided in halves. One half was freeze-dried and the other half spray-dried, but without using the first heating called pasteurisation. One sample each of the untreated colostrum was also kept.

Subsequently, the immunoglobulin G ( lgG ) was analysed in each of these 3 x 8 batches. Whereas freeze-drying did not show any adverse effect of the lgG - content, the result of the 8 batches of spray-dried powder showed an average loss of 28%. Yet an additional pasteurisation would mean a clear change to this result.

Whereas lgG is a relatively heat-resistant molecule, colostrum contains more ingredients that bear virtually no influence of heat. The following tables demonstrate this impressively.

On the websites of some providers you will find details on the enzyme telomerase. Each processing of colostrum except for the coldly manufactured liquid extract destroys this enzyme. So the reference to the existence of telomerase has to be understood only to that effect that it is indeed present in raw colostrum, but no longer in the products that have been treated with heat.

Scepticism in buying colostrum is advisable!

As we do not want to "shine" by running down the colostrum of other suppliers, we would like to point out that there are definitely possibilities to find out yourself, whether the packaging also contains the ingredients stated on the label or not. There are some laboratories in Germany that do analyses on e.g. lgG - content at a very reasonable price. Please ask us about it! We will either name you a laboratory or arrange the analysis there for you. You will receive the result directly from this laboratory then.

Because our demand for quality still goes much further, we hence obtain our colostrum for you exclusively from certified organic farms in Germany, Switzerland and Austria! This organic seal guarantees the authenticity of organic quality, because only farms that are audited by official controlling bodies at regular intervals are qualified to imprint this seal.

Organic Certifications & Quality Standards

Organic Certifications & Quality Standards

This is ensured by regular checkups and inspections of the board of control for organic food (006). The checkups that are carried out at least once a year include the examination of the following categories:

  • Plant production and animal production,
  • Purchase and sale of working funds and products (check of commodity flow),
  • Storage as well as preparation or processing of products.

So it is guaranteed that the basic rules of organic farming that are defined in the EC rules on organic farming, as well as specific processing specifications and labelling provisions are observed in the company.

When the demands are met, the company is permitted to label the manufactured products with the official organic seal with reference to organic farming.

Furthermore, C liveproducts also have their own quality standards
C live products are certified according to the EU hygiene standard. So they ensure a very high product quality.
